Home School Agreement

At Abercarn Primary School we believe that working in partnership with families is crucial to both the happiness and outcomes of our children. We use this Home School Agreement to ensure all involved are clear about their responsibilities and expectations and hope that by working together we can support the aims and values of the school.

Together we will:

  • Support and encourage your child’s learning to help them achieve their best.
  • Share any concerns or problems that may affect your child’s work or behaviour.

Parents will:

  • Make sure my child arrives and is collected from school on time.
  • Make sure my child attends school regularly and avoid holidays, day trips and visits in term time. (Please note, you do not automatically have the right to withdraw your child for these activities – holiday request forms can be obtained and authorised from the school office)
  • Inform the school before 09.30am on the first day of absence if my child is unwell.
  • Attend parent consultations and open evenings to discuss my child’s progress.
  • Support the school by encouraging good behaviour.
  • Provide support for my child in homework and other opportunities for home learning.
  • Ensure that my child follows the school dress code.
  • Update school records such as, contact information and health matters concerning my child.
  • Support the school where possible by attending school events and open evenings, contributing towards curriculum enhancement visits, educational trips and fund-raising events etc.

The School will:

  • Provide and deliver a balanced, exciting and modern curriculum to enable children to develop skills for lifelong learning and a successful adult life.
  • Encourage children to do their best at all times to enable them to fulfil their potential.
  • Value every child as an individual and encourage them to respect each other and value their environment.
  • Encourage children to respect religious values and morals and enjoy and respect their environment.
  • Inform parents/carers regularly of their child’s progress.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children and everyone involved in the life of the school. Be an open and welcoming school.
  • Keep parents informed about school activities through regular letters, newsletters and notices about special events.
  • Work in close partnership with parents/carers to ensure children have excellent discipline, manners, behaviour and attitudes towards adults and their peers.

Pupils will:

  • Always do my best.
  • Be kind and share.
  • Tell a teacher if I am worried or unhappy.
  • Be responsible for the things I do, take care of equipment, the building, other people and their property
  • Be polite and helpful to others, don’t hurt or bully anyone
  • Follow the School Rules for behaviour.
