Thrive

Thrive at Abercarn Primary School

At Abercarn we thrive to develop healthy, curious minds and happy, confident and creative children. We believe that every child needs to feel valued, involved and appreciated.  We are embracing the ‘Thrive’ approach here at Abercarn Primary School.

What is the Thrive Approach?

Thrive' is a therapeutic approach to help support children with their emotional and social development.  It offers practical strategies and techniques and is built around online assessments which identify children’s emotional development and provides action plans for their individual needs. Research has shown that how we behave is linked to how we feel, and our emotions are linked to how we learn.

We know that children learn best when they are happy and settled. We are using the Thrive Approach in order to support the emotional and social development of all our children.  Thrive helps us to check children’s readiness to learn, to identify any gaps and then plan to meet them. Through doing so, we will be able to make sure that all our pupils feel better about themselves, form trusting relationships, become more resilient and develop skills to overcome difficulties.
