We had to cancel our new curriculum event last week as we only had 3 parents attending. We will rearrange this meeting for later in the term as it is important for parents to be aware of the curriculum changes and how they will impact on your child’s education at Abercarn Primary.  We held a meeting for parents in Autumn Term about Expressive Arts, Science and Technology which was very successful. Everyone is welcome at this event.

HWB and OFFICE 365

Every student in Wales is entitled to download a copy of Microsoft Office for PC or Mac totally FREE! Thanks to Welsh Government. To get your child's HWB login details to download Microsoft Office please go to and fill out the request form.

We are trialling an online payment system in order for contributions and consent to be completed online. We are doing this in order to reduce the need for money to be sent into school etc. In addition to this, we are providing bank details in order for bank transfers to take place. Some parents have already used the system and feedback has been positive. If the system proves effective we will move over to the system for all trips, events and fruit.

The photographer was in school last week. Some fantastic family photographs taken and lovely to see some furry friends too!

It has been brought to my attention that some pupils in school, especially in Year 5 and Year 6 are regularly using the Tik Tok app.  Tik Tok is all about creating music videos through lip syncing and whilst it can be funny and entertaining it is important for parents to be aware of the dangers.

  • Tik Tok can display inappropriate content – it is easily available to view.
  • If children are posting videos they need to be very aware of what they are wearing. For example, if you post a video when wearing school uniform, strangers can identify a location immediately from the school badge etc.
  • Tik Tok has an age restriction of 12 years plus with adult supervision for anyone under 18.

Please monitor your child’s use of apps especially Tik Tok and be very aware if they are posting videos on any app for strangers to view. We will of course raise awareness in school.

We are currently looking for a relief Midday Supervisor. Hours of work will be between 12-1.15pm (only when required). If you are interested or require further details, please contact the school office.

The deadline for applying for admission into our Nursery September 2020 is 28th February 2020. If you have a child or know of someone that is hoping to start with us from September 2020, please complete the online application by 28th February.
