PEDESTRIAN GATE

The pedestrian gate as you enter school is unlocked. Parents simply need to push the gate. It will close automatically behind you. Lots of parents have assumed the gate is locked because it is closed – simply push the gate. An increasing number of parents are using the road

 

ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS SURGERY

Mrs Harry will be holding monthly drop in sessions for parents if you wish to discuss any concerns regarding Additional Learning Needs. The first of the drop in sessions is Friday! If you would like to make an appointment – please contact the school office.

 

CURRICULUM 2022 MEETING

IMPORTANT MEETING - WEDNESDAY 18th SEPTEMBER 2019 – 4.30pm in the School Hall.

Please attend to find out what is changing here at Abercarn Primary and also the changes to the entire curriculum.

Please let the office staff know you will be attending.


NUT FREE SCHOOL

Please remember we are a “nut free” school. We have several pupils with serious allergies to nuts. Please do not send in any nuts for snacks or lunch.


HEALTHY LUNCH BOXES AND SNACKS

Please remember we are a healthy school. We offer fruit in our tuck shop every day. If you are sending in snacks, please remember to send in healthy snacks (no chocolate or crisps) and please make a big effort to ensure lunch boxes are healthy and well balanced.


SICKNESS and DIARRHOEA

Please remember if your child has sickness and diarrhoea, he/she must remain off school for 48 hours from the last bout. This is in line with NHS / WG guidance.


DINNER MENU

This week is Week 3

Dinner Menus are on the notice board outside the school but can also be found on the Caerphilly Section of My School Lunch. Simply Goggle – Caerphilly My School Lunch Menu

 

SCHOOL CLUBS / SPORTS

Details of school clubs and sports will be sent home this week – Mr Perry will be co-ordinating all school clubs, tournaments and school trips this year and will be the point of contact if parents need to talk about clubs or trips!

 

CLASSROOM MONITOR SYSTEM

If you have signed up to the school Literacy, Numeracy, Digital Competence and Foundation Phase Profile online reporting system over the last few weeks,  please be patient with us! You will receive an email from PPL-WEB-1@classroommonitor-online.co.uk within the next week - please keep an eye out for it as it might go into you spam folder and follow the instructions.


MACMILLAN COFFEE AFTERNOON

Our annual Macmillan Coffee / Tea and cake afternoon will be on Friday 27th September 2019. Please join us for a drink and cake to raise funds for Macmillan from 2.40pm.

ATTENDANCE

It is important for children to attend school regularly. We will be chasing parents if pupils have attendance of below 95% and will be contacting the Education Welfare Officer if pupils are not punctual and attendance drops below 90%. Our attendance target for this year is 95% - Attendance forms part of the categorisation criteria of schools – Please help us to achieve well!


BE ON TIME

School starts at 9am. Doors open at 8.50am. Please ensure children are in school between 8.50am and 9am. The Education Welfare Officer will be patrolling school and will challenge parents of pupils who are late. Please be on time! If children are continually late, please expect to hear from us!
