Just before half term, interviews were held for a Key Stage 2 Teaching position. Following the intensive selection process and interview I am pleased to announce that Mr Perry was appointed. Although Mr Perry is already in school, we now welcome him as a permanent member of our team. Congratulations Mr Perry.
Mrs Fowler will not be returning in September as also just before half term Mrs Fowler was successful in obtaining a new position as a Specialist ALN Teacher for a Secondary School in neighbouring Local Authority. As many of you will be aware, Mrs Fowler has worked in our school for many years and has also been our school ALNCo! Firstly, I am sure everyone would like to join with us and congratulate Mrs Fowler on her new appointment. Mrs Fowler has considerable interest and enthusiasm for Additional Learning Needs and this new position will be an excellent move for her! She will be visiting school over this term to say her goodbyes etc. As a result of Mrs Fowler’s new appointment another teaching position became available and following the interview process, I am pleased to announce Elliot Yamamoto was appointed as a member of staff at our school. He has worked in several schools in South East Wales and comes very highly recommended. I am in no doubt he will be another valuable member of our team. You will see Mr Yamamoto around school in the next few weeks… please say hello and welcome him to our school.
MRS JENKINS RETIREMENT
Mrs Jenkins retired at the end of the half term and we welcome Karin Pardoe into the nursery. I am sure parents would like to join with us and wish Mrs Jenkins a very happy and healthy retirement!
Please can I remind Parent/Carers to put sun cream on pupils before sending them to school! Please ensure your child brings a bottle of water every day and wears a hat as necessary. Water is available for children during the school day although water bottles help with top ups and health and safety! Parents should apply sun protection cream to exposed body parts. Although it is not possible to allow pupils to bring such creams to school, there are now products on the market which give protection for the whole of the school day. The school will also encourage the children to sit in the shade out of direct sunlight for part of the lunch break.
YEAR 4 SWIMMING
Year 4 swimming starts today – Monday 3rd June 2019. Children will walk to Newbridge regardless of the weather so please ensure appropriate clothing and wet weather preparations are made. Please remember swimming is a compulsory part of the curriculum and children must take part – provision will be made for non-swimmers. Please ensure children have a towel and swim wear every day!
